Distances and times are approximate and change with traffic, fog and season.
This guide is for Telugu and Marwari families in Hyderabad thinking about a wedding in Vrindavan or Mathura. It covers the routes your guests can take, how we orient people visiting Braj for the first time, what to do about winter fog, a format of two to three nights, and which arrangements belong in Hyderabad and which we take on locally.
Most Hyderabad guests fly. The standard route is a flight to Delhi’s IGI airport and then roughly 3-4 hours by road. If your airline flies to Jewar, Noida International Airport sits on the Yamuna Expressway and cuts the drive considerably. Agra airport is about 70 km away but has few flights, so check current schedules.
Rail works for those with time: trains on the Delhi-Chennai line routes reach Mathura or Agra, and Mathura Junction is a major stop with many daily trains. Check schedules before booking, since routes and timings change.
We collect every guest’s arrival details and run airport and station pick-ups through our hospitality and guest management service, so a cousin landing late still has a car waiting.
For many Hyderabad guests this will be their first visit to Braj. A small welcome kit in each room helps: the schedule of functions, a map of the venue and nearby temples, a contact at our welcome desk, a pack of Mathura peda and perhaps a shawl for cold evenings. We can tailor it with a note in Telugu or Hindi from the couple.
On the first evening we give a short orientation: when each function starts, how the transport loop works, and what to expect at Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir or Nidhivan. We also explain two local rules that surprise visitors. The sale of meat and liquor is banned in the main pilgrimage area of Mathura-Vrindavan, so many venues serve only vegetarian food without alcohol; confirm with your venue. And open-air loudspeakers and DJs generally need to stop by 10 pm.
November to February is wedding season, with pleasant days and cold nights. From late December into January, dense fog can delay trains, flights and road journeys. For guests flying from Hyderabad in that window, we suggest travel insurance that covers delays and missed connections, flights that land earlier in the day, and an arrival day with no rituals. Many families also avoid Kharmas, mid-December to mid-January, so check with your pandit; our page on the right season for a Vrindavan-Mathura wedding sets out the options.
Night one: arrivals, kits in rooms, orientation and dinner.
Day two: mehendi and haldi, with an optional morning trip to Govardhan, Barsana or Gokul, and a sangeet or music night.
Day three: the wedding, followed by departures the next morning. Families keen on a little sightseeing can add Agra, about 55-60 km from Mathura.
Telugu and Marwari families each have their own rituals, and some Hyderabad weddings bring both together. Bring the items your ceremonies depend on: outfits, jewellery, family puja items and anything your priest asks for specifically. Tell us early whether your priest is travelling with you or if you need us to find one locally.
In Braj we take care of flowers, mandap and stage decor, venue selection, vegetarian caterers, sweets and every transfer. Your budget should cover airfares, the road transfers and rooms for each night.
Send your dates and an approximate number of guests coming from Hyderabad through the enquiry form or the contact page. Our destination wedding team will reply with a first plan.
Fly to Delhi and drive roughly 3-4 hours, or fly to Jewar if your airline goes there, which shortens the road leg.
It is worth it for late December and January, when fog can delay flights and trains. Choose cover for delays and missed connections.
Usually the event schedule, a simple map, a desk contact, local sweets and a shawl. We adjust the contents to your family and budget.
